More 2 Month Pictures

Calvin loves the outdoors and playing in his play gym. He loves to chew on his hands and "sausages" (fingers) while looking out at "the wide, wide world". His eyes are full of curiosity and wonder at God's magnificent creation. I wonder what it must be like to behold the beauty of creation for the first time through the mind of an infant.

Raising the Average

Calvin James Shiflet
2 Months Old
16 Pounds, 4 Ounces
26 Inches Long

Calvin is growing so fast...we are already in size 3 diapers. His expressions continue to give us many chuckles. He is so alert and loves to play "kick the froggie" under his play gym. Of course he spends most of his time being held by Mommy, Daddy or one of his siblings who elbow each other to get to him first. So sweet, now this is the kind of sibling rivalry I like to see. Calvin is cooing and "talking" much more. He turns his head when he hears Mom's voice then usually starts to smack his lips. He also loves for Daddy to turn him on his stomach over Daddy's knees and bounce him until he falls asleep. Daddy is the best at getting Calvin to go to sleep. We are all loving having a baby to love and care for.

Our Thanksgiving Celebration

This year was a Thanksgiving of many firsts. Calvin at almost 6 weeks old celebrates his first Thanksgiving, but also this was the first Thanksgiving for Andrew and Kathlena at their Great-Grandmother Davis's (Mema). It was also the first Thanksgiving at my grandparent's house since my Grandfather passed away 2yrs ago. I know my grandfather would have loved to have known Andrew, Kathlena and Calvin and I will do my best to help them know him through stories and our memories. The above pictureis our family sitting around the same table I sat at for Thanksgiving dinner when I was a kid.
The kid's table...another generation to sit here. I remember when I sat here
with my brother and cousins. Also pictured is Blake A & K's cousin.

The Thanksgiving day nap we all look forward to Calvin is perfecting.
Calvin being held by his Great-Grandmother Davis. What a blessing for him
to have the opportunity to know her and stories from her generation.
Calvin being held by his great-great aunt Marilyn. This is my grandfather's sister.

The younger kids and aunt Susie enjoyed kite flying. This was a real
treat for my kids as they rarely get to fly kites where we live...too many trees!

Daddy the repairman to the rescue.

As you can tell Andrew absolutely loved playing with kites.

Wait a Minute...

I got!!

We had a great time over the holidays and we're so thankful to see lots of family and friends. We visited our old church in Hillsboro and got to see many sweet faces we had not seen in years. This Thanksgiving again we were reminded of how very blessed we are to have so many friends and family that love us and share in our true joy of this season, our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ.

Calvin 1 Month Old Today...

It is so hard to believe Calvin is already one month old, the time has just flown right by. He is getting bigger every day, and has already passed the 12 lb marker. Calvin, a typical Shiflet looks much older than he actually is, most people don't believe us when we say he's a month old. He's already begun to hold his head up for short periods of time, has rolled over, and is increasingly aware of his surroundings. Meanwhile the rest of are trying to get things back to "normal" (whatever that is) :) and trying to resume some sort of schedule.

...and here's Calvin sucking his thumb for the first time...
