How appropriate that Calvin's first *big* outing should be a "Semper Reformanda" Family Integrated Conference on Reformation Day weekend!!!
Calvin mostly slept through the evening speakers which was a good thing for Momma as she was able to listen and enjoy a little of the conference. He is such a good baby and seems to like the noise. Probably a good thing he likes noise since being number five gives him little time of quiet.
This is our family blog. By God's grace we are striving to live as Deuteronomy 6 commands. "you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."

Kathlena Singing to Calvin
Here's a cute video of Kathlena singing to Calvin I took of her this week. She's singing two of her favorite songs: How Firm a Foundation and Are You Washed.

Mommy and the Moby
I am feeling great after one week of rest and trying to continue resting for the FULL two weeks my midwife prescribed. It is hard though as I am starting to feel like I can resume some "normal" tasks. It has been such a blessing to have meals brought to us from our loving church families ( we have loved tasting new foods and gathering recipes!) and friends and having David home for two weeks also. A wonderful time of our new family bonding.
Calvin has let us have 4 hours of sleep at a time at night which feels like a luxury after the first few nights of 2 hours or less. The wee hours with Calvin have been sweet time for David and I that the loss of sleep is worth it (at least for a little while, :)) Calvin is a very calm, easy going baby. He hardly cries except for some of his diaper changes or when he is hungry and even then he is easily calmed down. He loves to be held which is good as we have so many "holders" around here.
This time of Calvin being little passes so quickly that I am determined to drink it all up and soak in this sweet time with my little one and enjoy having all of us together. Late nights of big brother Bubbie holding Calvin or big sister Mimi playing with him in "alert" night time or Andrew holding and kissing on him or early mornings with Kathlena talking to him and asking lots of questions about him all sweet memories that each of his siblings will never forget. Soon enough we will all have to get back to our schedules, but for now it seems time is standing still for our little family...at least for a few more days.

One Week Old...Meeting Grandmommie and Pawpaw
This afternoon our other set of grandparents arrived for the evening. We all agreed that Calvin is, indeed the "prettiest" baby we've ever seen.

Reflections of an Enraptured Sister
Never before did life seem so beautiful, fresh, and new. From the crisp breath of the wind outside my window to the gentle breath of the babe in my arms, it all seems too wonderful to be true.
It is as though the clock has stopped and life has stood still. I have lost track of the days, how long has it been? A week? A month? A year? Or has it always been this way? I cannot tell.
All I see is light, glorious, all-encompassing light by which everything else fades into an impenetrable haze.

15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them,
It is as though the clock has stopped and life has stood still. I have lost track of the days, how long has it been? A week? A month? A year? Or has it always been this way? I cannot tell.
"13For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
17How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!"
Psalm 139:13-17
